European Day of Languages
An art exhibition took place on September 26, and was dedicated to the European Day of Languages. This competition gave high school pupils the chance to promote EDL, showcase creative work, and have it be judged. During the week it was hosted a café with Spanish food, drink, menu and decorations in the appropriate target language. Pupils, staff, parents and visitors were invited. The highlight of the event was Online Abanico Masterclass.

The European Day of Languages
The European Day of Languages is celebrated on the 26th of September every year and is a great opportunity to highlight not only language learning in your school, but also the diversity and multicultural experiences of all the children. “Zaliakalnio“ High School celebrated EDL on Monday 28th September with a lively and fun packed day. This year all creative language learners have been invited to design a poster and a slogan to celebrate the European Day of Languages 2015. The Spanish class,which was the highlight of a week events,cooked a range of European Treats - Patatas a la Importancia, Spanish meatballs, Mate, Pastel de Manzana, Churros, Croquetos de Pollo. Delicious! On offer was an abundance of food made by the very talented pupils and their parents for everyone to try, which they did very successfully. A delicious way to learn more about Europe!Moreover, pupils were able to use some basic vocabulary relating to food. The atmosphere was fantastic, and it was a joy to see so many pupils celebrating other cultures. Roll on next year!

European Day of Languages. Event type: Quize/Game
The project started with the celebration of EDL by creating postcards online and sending them to other students in different European languages. The goal was let students understand how important to learn other languages to be able to communicate with people. Different quizzes gave the chance to test knowledge about the languages of our Continent.

Linguistic Diversity
The EDL at Zaliakalnio High School was launched on Thursday 26th September and ended on Thursday 11th November. Pupils had “off – timetable” lessons entirely devoted to EDL in which they learned many interesting facts about languages. It was a hugely successful day. Pupils thoroughly enjoyed trying their hand at languages they had never heard before. This was followed by a session on Language Tasters including word Hello in Italian, German and Spanish.and other languages. Some of the pupils were surprised to hear the similarity in-words from different countries.
A PowerPoint on on facts and figures about languages presentation ended with a language quiz which formed the basis of a competition in which all pupils were invited to take part in a Euroquiz to challenge their general knowledge on languages and at the same time enjoyed the different music of each country.
-Spanish classes were held in the hall where a variety of activities took place. The pupils and staff were invited to come along to language classroom and have a chat in Spanish.The-pupils of Zaliakalnio High School were enthusiastic and very excited by their time celebrating European Day of Languages and the day was a great success, enjoyed by everybody.

European Day of Languages. Workshop: Quiz/Game
The Opening Ceremony events devoted to EDL were organised . Combined with quizzes and language games, competitions and contests, foreign movies, music performance– that is not all what was included in the program of EDL celebration. It is great to see that during EDL events participants got a chance not only to obtain some knowledge, but also to meet new people, get insight into their culture, traditions and daily life.

On the occasion of the day, a range of events were organized across ”Zaliakalnio” High School for and with pupils. The day was enjoyed by the school's pupils and their teachers, and it included the opportunity to promote the pupils’ creative talents by putting on sketches illustrating the languages that they can speak. In order to learn more about language diversity, pupils could take part in " Fun Online Activities”. EVERYONE really got involved in the European Day of Language.
