 April 23, International Book Day is an annual event organized by UNESCO to promote the importance of reading and literature around the world. It is a symbolic date for world literature, since 23 April 1616 was the date of death of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra . On this occasion on the well known event "Cervantes readings " took place at " Zaliakalnio " High School with the aim to promote Obras Escogidas de Miguel de Cervantes. It was the first annual celebration of Cervantes readings. The lesson was based on a reading-writing contest among the pupils of "Zaliakalnio”. Lovers of Miguel de Cervantes Don Quixote de la Mancha got an opportunity to immerse themselves in the much-loved classic during the lesson. A wide variety of techniques helped pupils to increase their experience. Video activities and multimedia resources were provided for pupils learning Spanish. They helped pupils to increase their experience , keep on task and engaged with the activity and the lesson's goals.
