Shaping Learning Together

Four  teachers,  Christian Aguilera, Efrain Barreto, Alexia Delgado Robayana, Carmen Gloria Morales, have been attending  „Zaliakalnio“ High School - Generating  CLIL Bridges: Lanzarote – Europe Challenge-EUROPE– in Klaipeda. The main purpose of the project was to highlight the methodological and linguistic competence of  teachers, allowing them to be more open, innovative and inspirational for the realization of new projects and to be in line with the European school reality.

It was a great opportunity for “Zaliakalnio“ High School teachers and pupils  to participate in such an event. The working languages of the project were Spanish and English. It was good for students to get experience at this project in order to spark their interest in research and get them involved in CLIL.We really appreciated to work with foreign teachers, to share our knowledge with them, and get new ones as well. The challenge was to integrate one specific subject with the other subject areas. In  CLIL lessons the teachers of “Zaliakalnio“ opened the windows of their  classrooms using the tools of language in a meaningful way.

The guests offered some practical tips on making the most of CLIL. The teachers facilitated the learning process by moving around the class, ensuring that pupils were actively involved. For pupils successful CLIL lessons were challenging, rewarding, and required them to think deeply and learn actively.

And to conclude, we think CLIL lessons are  a pupil-centered approach to learning. What is most importantly, CLIL allows pupils to use their language skills in a productive way, building fluency and confidence as they seek, discover knowledge. It was such a great experience from start to finish.
