The origins of the World Book Day we now celebrate in Lithuania came from Catalonia, where roses and books were given as gifts to loved ones on St George's Day. A tradition started over 90 years ago. In „Zaliakalnio“ the theme of the day was devoted to the works of W.Shakespeare and M.Cervantes A main aim of World Book Day in „Zaliakalnio“ was to encourage pupils to explore the pleasures of M.Cervantes and W.Shakespeare books.
